Professional journalists and film crews traveled with the Border Convoy. Below, are photos I took of Day 2 in Arizona and Day 3 in New Mexico and El Paso, TX.

Because of my schedule, I could only travel on the convoy for the first 3 days, ending in El Paso.

On day 3, while the Border Convoy traveled in New Mexico, a Homeland Security bus was among the Border Convoy vehicles for several minutes.

DAY 1 Murrieta
August 1, 2014 – Rally in Murrieta, CA

DAY 2 ARIZONA
August 2, 2014

PHOENIX – IN FRONT OF SENATOR JOHN Mc CAIN’S OFFICE

Barb Heller of the Remember 1986 http://remember1986.com/ and her group greeted the Border Convoy arrivals with a warm welcome. A rally in front of Senator John McCain’s Phoenix office was staged.

Protest inside, calling for McCain to meet with the people.

Eventually, a security guard arrived on scene and moved the boisterous group back outside and in front of the building.

Senator McCain was not in his office, and he did not meet with the people…

In July, after the blocking of Homeland Security buses in Murrieta, the citizens of Oracle, AZ staged a rally in front of Sycamore Canyon Academy because a Homeland Security bus was scheduled to transport illegal border crossers to the academy.

The Oracle rally was a success! The Homeland Security bus was rerouted. Eventually it was learned that the Homeland Security bus was rerouted to the Eloy ICE Detention Center.  ARTICLE:

When the Border Convoy group arrived at the Eloy Detention Center, the driveway had been blocked off with orange cones and federal agents were guarding the driveway – at the ready.  A verbal request to meet with federal officers or “the warden” went forward.

However, there was no official who would speak to the people.

TOO BAD THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION DOES NOT PUT THE SAME EFFORT INTO STOPPING ILLEGAL ALIENS AS IT DOES INTO STOPPING AMERICAN CITIZENS…

Participants, utilizing a bull horn, asked questions of the federal agents and called repeatedly for a meeting “with the warden” to answer their questions.

But the federal agents remained silent.

A convoy, official photographer asked to step beyond the orange cones blocking the driveway in order to take a photo but was instructed to not to cross the line of orange cones blocking the driveway.

So there is a “border” that effectively stops Americans from entering the detention center perimeter.  Again, it is a miscarriage of justice that the Obama administration does not enforce the law at the border as strictly as it is enforced in regard to American citizens, seeking answers to questions…

Federal agents would remove the cones when authorized vehicles approached but would not allow the Border Convoy participants beyond the coned-off driveway.

ORACLE, AZ

Photo from the car window.  It was a beautiful drive to Oracle – situated in the hills north of Tucson.  It had been raining so there was lots of greenery and wet patches.  En route, the convoy was stopped several times as cattle lumbered across the road.

Oracle was the town where more than 300 local citizens rallied, on July 15, 2014, in opposition to  a Homeland Security bus that was scheduled to drop off illegal border crossers at a Sycamore Canyon Academy.

But because of the rally, the bus was diverted.

As in Phoenix, we had a warm welcome at the Oracle Inn.

Locals were waving flags and shaking our hands and saying, “Thank you,” when the Border Convoy arrived. Barb Heller introduced the Border Convoy group to the man who organized the Oracle rally that diverted the Homeland Security bus in that town.

DAY 3: New Mexico to El Paso, TX

Because of my schedule, this was my final day on the convoy.

Convoy media van was pulled over to side of the freeway by officers – El Paso.

Upon arrival in El Paso, the convoy was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 when a black Tacoma moved toward the convoy in a menacing position. There were attempts to run the convoy vehicles off of the freeway. The evidence was videotaped by convoy photographers.

Next Texas officers swarmed the freeway, closed all ramps and pulled the convoy to side of the road. According to officers, a woman who was in the vehicle that attempted to ram the convoy had reported a man in the convoy had pointed a gun at them – of course not true.

OFFICIAL Statement from the Border Convoy Facebook:

Murrieta Strong holding down the fort and keeping it real. Stay Strong and focused. As we all know, the media lies, twists, and fabricates their own truth. The driver of the black Tacoma that was causing the issues in El Paso by cutting off and slamming on their brakes and swerving at convoy vehicles was in fact arrested for what he did. The accusations of Murrieta Strong aiming weapons at people are completely unfounded. We have live streaming and recorded video evidence of the entire day that the police were shown, resulting in our release and the Tacoma drivers arrest.

Officers were friendly and hinted that, basically, the call to officers regarding the pointing of a weapon had been fabricated – and said that a full investigation is to follow.

Officers interviewed and investigated members of the convoy.

As soon as the convoy was pulled over by officers, protesters with signs appeared on scene. Spanish media was immediately on scene as well.

Protesters with signs appeared on scene.

After the officers finished the investigation, they stopped traffic on the freeway so that the convoy could continue.  Officers wished the group well (some had even expressed support of the mission.)

This was my scheduled time of departure.
